Persuasive writing by Lucas

I have been doing persuasive writing about letting me go to survivor night 2022.

Hi Mum and Dad,

Hopefully, you don't say no, next week on Thursday and Friday me and my classmates and some adults that do have their first aid kits with them, we are going to Waima forest for a survivor night. I think I should go to survivor night 2022 because it will be lots of fun and it will be a good experience for me to learn new skills and build.

The reason I think you should let me go is that it is a new experience for me. It will be a good experience for me because I will get to work as a team to put up shelters with my group and I will have to be organized with food and with gear like clothes. I will learn new skills like learning how to build a proper shelter so that we can stay dry. And my fitness level will rise by walking through the Waima forest to the camp spot.

Another reason I think I should go is that I will get out of my comfort zone. By trusting others and being able to work together and we will develop and strengthen our bonus together. We will get to sit around a fire and we will be doing raps, songs, and dancing.

Building a hut will be a good experience for me to learn.

This is why I should go to survivor night 2022. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me, you should let me go because I will be physically moving all day and I can spend time with my friends. You should let me go because this trip will be very fun. So please let me go on this trip.

Please reward me,

Lucas Van Gaalen

Devotions Reflection

We are created in God's image. This means I have God-given creativity and talents.
this week we read the parable of the three servants.

What it was about...The parable was about three servants each servant got a different amount of money
one of the servants went and earned double the amount. The other servant earned a few more the last servant berried his dag of money. Then when the master returned he ask what did you do with the money.

Something taught me...Is that everyone has their own God-given talent like communicating and planning, cooking, singing, drawing, and even writing like my talents are playing sports and working in teams to complete things.

How can I apply it...I could develop my talents by showing and not hiding. My talents are bodily-kinesthetic intelligence like sports and doing activities.

My Limerick

In class, I have been doing my own limerick.

Explain what a limerick is. A limerick is a poem that has up to five lines and the first, second and the last lines rhyme with each other. The third and fourth are a different rhyme, AABBA.

AND and share examples of one written independently or collaboratively.

I know a boy called Che

He thought he was a eashy

He looked a bit like a fool

But he was actually VERY cool

That’s the boy I know called Che

Here is an example poem we look at in class…

Apostle Paul

I once was a man named Saul.

I thought I knew it all.

I persecuted the church.

I went to Damascus to search.

Where Jesus transformed me into Paul.

I had lost my sight

All I could see was night.

I heard Jesus’s voice.

I made Him my choice.

Praise the Lord, I saw the Light.

Jonah's Pride

WALT uses studies of the bible to gain an understanding that we all need  God's help, mercy, and love, and we are all called to forgive others.

The Bible records many stories about "forgiving". The Lord Jesus also taught us this: when we forgive men when they sin against us, our heavenly father will also forgive us. However, it's hard to forgive from our hearts. With God’s help, you can forgive.

Your assignment is to research "forgiving", in the bible and share what you learned. You will need to use reference material such as biblegateway.com or search engines to locate stories of forgiveness in the Bible.

Begin by brainstorming possible topics and bible references

Create your own framework to record bible references you will read, key events within it, and your thoughts. In week 8 you will use this to write what you learned from the bible about forgiveness.
